Fucoidan

Fucoidan is a long chain sulfated polysaccharide whose main component is Fucose. Fucoidan originates from a type of slime found only in brown algae such as Kombu, Wakame (Mekabu), Mozuku. It is a water-soluble fiber. Mozuku seaweed has the highest Fucoidan content.

Uses:

• Fucoidan helps prevent the growth of cancer cells, inhibiting blood vessel formation, and strengthening immunity. In addition, studies also show that Fucoidan has anti-coagulant, anti-viral, anti-oxidant, and lipid-lowering effects.
• For cancer patients, Fucoidan helps eliminate cancer cells, reducing tumor size by tricking cancer cells into committing suicide (Apoptosis), inhibiting angiogenesis, and reducing buildup of tumor.
• It is shown in experiments that Fucoidan imposes impacts on many factors that activate exogenous and endogenous apoptotic pathways, thereby inhibiting the growth of cancer cells and activating the apoptosis process (cell’s programmed mechanism for death) of cancer cells. Fucoidan inhibits Vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGFs) from binding to receptors on cell membranes, thereby inhibiting angiogenesis of cancer cells, cutting off the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the tumor. It is observed in IN VIVO and IN VITRO experiments that VEGFs are less active in the cells being treated with Fucoidan.
• Fucoidan helps strengthen immunity by increasing the number and activity of NK cells (a group of cells playing an important role in the immune system) as well as increasing the number of T lymphocytes (cells that kill cancer cells).
• It is observed in individual clinical cases in various cancers (brain tumor, thyroid cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, stomach cancer, etc.) that Fucoidan has the effects of reducing tumor size, improving patients’ quality of life. Fucoidan also helps reduce fatigue in patients using chemotherapy medication for cancer treatment.
